Save the Children visited our Woodley offices last week to present a certificate after we raised £2,440 under the Will Aid Scheme. K J Smith Solicitors were in the top five fundraisers across Berkshire after participating in the UK’s leading charitable will writing scheme last November.
Stelios Vellis from the charity commented, "We want to send our deepest thanks to K J Smith for all their hard work this year. Our vision is of a world where every child has the chance to survive, learn and be safe and with donations from the Will Aid scheme we can take great strides towards this".

David Roper, Kerry Haugh and Joanna Oldman drafted a number of Wills under the Will Aid Scheme whereby clients are asked to make a voluntary donation to charity in return for a professional preparing their wills. This gives clients the opportunity to donate vital funds to charities whilst being assured that their wills reflect what they would like to happen to their assets.
David, who heads up the Private Client department at K J Smith Solicitors said: "The reality is that we see first-hand the problems that arise if people don’t have their will written by an expert. There are a lot of things that might not be given proper attention or may be forgotten when people try to do it themselves, or trust someone inexperienced with a matter that should be taken seriously. Our team has thoroughly enjoyed participating in Will Aid and have worked very hard. Public awareness around Will Aid is quite high and we do find that people are actively looking to take part in the campaign. We have already received enquiries for next year."

Will Aid is supported by various celebrities including Graham Norton and works with nine different charities including Save the Children, Age UK and the British Red Cross. Will Aid have raised around £16 million since they began in 1988 and estimate that they have helped over 275,000 individuals make a will over the last thirty years.
