Sofie is head of our Oxford office and has been appointed Chair of Thames Valley Family Lawyers’ Society. She qualified as a lawyer in 2011 through the Chartered Legal Executive route, which means she specialised in family law from the outset.
She’s highly experienced in all aspects of family law. One of her main areas of practice is divorce and sorting out the matrimonial finances as part of the divorce proceedings.
Her other area of focus is child law. She has obtained several child arrangements orders and prohibited steps orders to protect the best interests of the children in her matters. As part of that specialism, she has experience in drafting parental agreements and apportioning parental responsibility fairly in the circumstances.
Sofie has also been successful in obtaining non-molestation orders in domestic abuse matters and finding secure legal protection for victims of domestic abuse.
Some matters require an assertive stance, while others are resolved through a more conciliatory approach. Sofie adapts her style to the situation and the personalities in the case.
However, as a member of Resolution, she prefers to take the most constructive approach when it comes to family disputes. She follows their Code of Practice promotes a non-confrontational approach to family problems, and encourages the parties to consider the best interests of the children.
Sofie was part of the team that started the Oxford office from scratch. The office is growing and thriving, and as an emerging leader in the firm, Sofie supports her colleagues to progress in their careers. She mentors junior colleagues, building their confidence and their legal skills to become future leaders in the business themselves.
