Laura has worked in Family Law since 2009, beginning her legal career while undertaking her law studies. She was admitted as a solicitor on 15 August 2014 and is now a Partner, heading the firm’s St Albans office.
Laura confidently handles all areas of family law, including both complex, contentious matters—such as divorce and separation, financial disputes, cohabitation issues, and domestic abuse cases—as well as non-contentious matters, including prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, cohabitation arrangements, and separation agreements. Laura has completed the Judiciary Shadowing Scheme, which has helped her better understand the court dynamics and strengthen her abilities to advise clients realistically and strategically. As a member of Resolution, Laura promotes a constructive, pragmatic, and cost-effective approach to resolving disputes, aiming to reduce conflict wherever possible. With a "belts and braces" approach, she is equally prepared to take a robust and strategic stance when the circumstances require it, ensuring her clients' interests are firmly protected.
Laura is known for building strong, positive relationships with her clients, ensuring they feel supported throughout often challenging and emotionally charged proceedings. She is attentive to each client’s individual needs and has been consistently commended for her clear, objective advice, her proactive handling of cases, and her ability to keep focus on the key issues in dispute. Legal advice is just one piece of the puzzle- ensuring her clients are protected from all angles is her priority and she believes in taking a holistic approach to family law. Laura invests time in getting to know the professionals she connects her clients with—whether that’s counsellors, financial advisors, mediators, mortgage brokers, divorce coaches or other specialists.
One of Laura’s notable cases was Birch v Birch [2017] UKSC 53, in which she successfully represented the Applicant in proceedings remitted following a landmark Supreme Court decision.
As a mother of two primary school-aged children, Laura has become an expert at conflict resolution. Even when none of it makes sense…
