Jennifer is a dual-qualified barrister and leads our newly established Bristol office. She has been practicing law for over 16 years, having trained and qualified as a barrister in Ireland in 2010, before being admitted to the Bar of England & Wales in 2019.
Jennifer began her career at the Irish Bar, where she developed a successful general practice with a focus on family law. In 2017, she relocated to Hong Kong to practice as an international commercial litigator acting in complex, high-value disputes. In 2022, she returned to family law, joining a boutique Hong Kong practice serving the needs of local and international high-net-worth clients, and then moving to London in 2023 to join a specialist family law firm acting for high- and ultra-high-net-worth clients. Jennifer joined KJ Smith Solicitors in July 2026.
Jennifer has experience in all aspects of family law, including divorce and separation, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, cohabiting relationships, financial provision and maintenance, child arrangements, domestic violence, and civil partnership issues. Her particular expertise lies in complex financial remedies and cross-border family law matters (including jurisdiction/forum disputes, Part III applications, and Hague/non-Hague matters). Drawing on her experience in high-stakes international commercial litigation and insolvency, Jennifer is particularly skilled at analysing complex corporate structures, navigating global asset tracing claims, and challenging material non-disclosure.
As an employed barrister, Jennifer offers clients a unique hybrid skill set: the rigorous advocacy and drafting of an experienced barrister with the sophisticated case and client management skills of a leading family law practitioner. She has been recognised as a ‘Key Lawyer’ by Legal 500 and is known for her compassionate and collaborative approach. She has been described as a “very persuasive advocate”, and a “strong negotiator” who is committed to achieving the best outcomes for her clients.
