George joined K J Smith in September 2025 and works as a Compliance Assistant in our Woodley office. His role involves supporting the firm with complaints handling, internal compliance processes, and ensuring industry SLAs are met. He also helps maintain the accuracy of internal and client accounts, contributing to the smooth running of day to day operations. George enjoys the variety in his workload and the opportunity to collaborate with a team that is always welcoming, supportive and ready to help.
Before joining K J Smith, George spent over six years working in the financial technology sector. His experience includes managing financial disputes and complaints, providing B2B customer service, and offering internal support across a range of departments. Over the course of his career, he has helped develop teams, supported new staff through training, and played a key role in ensuring businesses maintain accurate and compliant internal systems. These skills formed a strong foundation for his transition into the legal sector, where he was keen to take on new challenges and continue developing professionally.
Although still new to the firm, George is proud of the progress he has made in just a few weeks, and he appreciates how quickly he has been able to build his knowledge. He values K J Smith’s close knit culture, where staff genuinely care for one another, and where support, development and teamwork are prioritised. This environment made his career change feel like the right decision from day one.
George was drawn to the role by an interest in policies, problem-solving and the potential for long-term growth within the legal sector. While adapting to a completely new industry has been a learning curve, he approaches it with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, taking advantage of internal training and day-to-day practice to build his confidence.
