Lauren Schriefer, Thomas Dickens and Jennifer Murray from our Basingstoke office have been working closely with St Michael’s Hospice; facilitating the provision of 3 new specialised laptops to the Hospice at Home team in what we hope to be the first of many collaborations with the charity.
St. Michael’s Hospice is a charity devoted to caring for patients in need of end-of-life and palliative care in the North Hampshire area. The Hospice provides its patients with the highest possible quality of life through a choice of specialist care and support, including support for patients’ families.
Patients often opt to remain in the comfort and familiar surroundings of their own home. The Hospice at Home service ensures that patients receive the same excellent level of care at home as they would on site. Last year the service provided 1,854 hours of care and took on 229 new patients. The initiative requires a huge effort in the form of coordination, with carers and nurses visiting homes and working closely with other clinical professionals and care agencies in the community.
The charity as a whole is close to the hearts of the Basingstoke office team. Lauren, Thomas and Jennifer have been working with the Hospice fundraising team to ascertain how K J Smith can best show our support. We are incredibly proud to be able to provide the Hospice at Home team with the three new laptops they require to provide their service.
Lucy Whyle, Lead Nurse for the Hospice at Home team, commented, “Laptops for Hospice at Home will be essential to ensuring that our nurses can be as efficient and effective as possible whilst covering the large geographical area that we do. Having access to laptops will ultimately allow us to see more patients and to have a wider input into our local community. We will be forever grateful to the KJ Smith Solicitors team for helping us in achieving this.”
