Interest on Client Account Funds Policy

We may pay interest on funds held in your client account, usually at the conclusion of your matter. To clarify, each matter will be treated individually (you may have several matters to your case).

Any interest due to you will be paid as soon as practically possible after your lawyer has confirmed the matter has concluded (pursuant to our internal processes).

Interest will only be payable where the aggregated interest amount is £50.00 or more. Below this amount, we consider the administrative costs of dealing with the funds exceed the interest due.

When calculating the interest, we will apply the relevant rate applicable at that time, and in accordance with the NatWest Client Deposit gross rate (which can fluctuate), and can be found at www.natwest.com/business/savings/client-deposit-manager.html.

Where interest is paid to you this will be paid gross, and it is your responsibility to declare gross interest received to HMRC.

We hold client money in NatWest Bank PLC which is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). We are not liable for any losses you suffer as a result of any such banking institution being unable to repay depositors in full.

If the bank in which the firm holds funds should fail, the firm reserves the right to disclose to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), www.fscs.org.uk, the names and other details for clients whose money is held on the general client account, in order for the client to claim compensation the limit of which is currently £85,000.00.

This policy is reviewed periodically and at least annually by the COFA and the Directors of the firm.
