Deeds of Separation

Deeds of separation are obtained in cases where a couple wish to separate, but do not wish to start a divorce. The deed itself is a formal document which confirms the date of separation, any agreed financial settlement, and other relevant information. It is signed and retained by both spouses, and usually forms the basis for any Court Order made during potential future divorce proceedings.

However, be cautious, a deed of separation may be challenged within divorce proceedings. We can advise you as to how this can best be avoided.

In the event that you separate but remain married you may require a Will. Our team of Seperation Solicitors can assis you with this.
